Ryan Kuehner was once a Sheriff’s Deputy for St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department. Through his years as a Deputy Kuehner says, “We have to be mindful when we are dealing with the justice system.”
Ryan Kuehner is an advocate and a voice for those who have been wrongfully accused. “I want to help people understand their rights, too many people have been wrongfully charged and convicted.” Having seen these injustices, Kuehner spends a great deal of his time teaching what he learned about law enforcement to citizens in order to protect their rights.
“I have seen people suffer from injustice and want to give them a road map to help guide them through the justice system. Whether it’s a civil case or criminal case you have to be diligent and knowledgeable.”
Ryan Kuehner started law enforcement to help keep the community safe but overtime he says there are two sides to every story.
“I speak to a lot of people and they tell me stories about themselves and family members who have been overwhelmed by the legal system.”
Kuehner says it’s important to make sure you get an attorney you can trust. “Unfortunately, not all attorneys are created equal. You could have a great case and lose due to poor advise or representation from your attorney. It’s a real shame seeing people get stuck in the legal spider web.”
Kuehner says it’s important to vet your attorney before you decide to have them represent you. “I know numerous attorneys who have never been to trial. Think about it… would you want a surgeon who never performed surgery…. Of course not. In my opinion, you should look for an experienced trial attorney, someone who will fight like a pit bull in the court room for you.” Kuehner says it is important to ask an attorney how many trials they have won and for record of their success in the court room before having them represent you.
“Don’t get me wrong, there are some great criminal and civil attorneys out there, but you really need to be careful and make sure they are working for your best interests.”
Another concern Kuehner warns people about is how to protect your rights when confronted by law enforcement. There are a lot of good law enforcement officers out there but unfortunately you need the knowledge to protect your rights. “We have all seen in recent times people being exonerated after years of being incarcerated for something they didn’t do. My point is to know your constitutional rights as an American citizen.”
Kuehner says he is adamant about informing the public of their rights and understanding how to interact with law enforcement as well as vetting your attorney before hiring them to represent you. “In the United States you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but unfortunately in today’s justice system you are guilty until proven innocent.
Kuehner states, “A lot of work is necessary to balance out the legal system.” Ryan Kuehner is a strong advocate of justice reform and continues to inform the public of their rights. ryankuehner.info
